Putting our knowledge of automation, lighting and outdoor installations to the test FORM created six light-up spinning mirror plinths to be enjoyed throughout the Summer in Melbourne.
In collaboration with Mandylights and the Melbourne Recital Centre the objective was to highlight the installations transformative power from day to night.
Sunlight would be reflected off the rotating mirrors during the day, and at night, transform into glowing LED pedestals. No two moments would ever be the same.
The skeleton of each sculpture was made of steel and clad in a two-way polycarbonate mirror.
Measuring 1.2m L x 1.2m W x 2.4m H, each box was designed to be flat packed and assembled on site, making transportation to site effortless.
The entire experience was a feast for the senses blending infinite shapes, patterns and colours accompanied by a soundscape designed by musicians performing at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
